Kettle Hill
Our foundation asset. Copper and associated minerals, in production since 1997, with an approved extension to 2041.
Kettle Hill is Marridale’s foundation asset and remains our largest single employer. It has returned more to this district, in wages and rates and common wealth, than any other operation we run. The operation sits within a pastoral lease held by the company since 1994, and supplies concentrate to domestic smelters and to export customers through the Port Wakeman terminal.
Stage 4 extension
The Stage 4 extension will extend mine life to 2041 without expanding the approved disturbance footprint. The extension was assessed under the state’s major projects framework, with public consultation held across six regional centres in 2024.
Rehabilitation
Progressive rehabilitation has returned 2,310 hectares to a stable landform since 2009. The northern waste emplacement was capped in FY25 and is now under a native saltbush cover crop, monitored annually against agreed completion criteria.
“Kettle Hill will close one day, and we intend for it to close well. Planning for that is not a cost of doing business. It is the business.” - Operations statement, FY26 Sustainability Report
